Mrs. Irma Davis, a resident of the Youngstown's Southside, was very active in schools and parenting groups addressing societal issues affecting the young people of the community. She prepared herself as a counselor by participating in seminars and training classes and successfully became a Certified Prevention Specialist.
In 1976, Irma shared her passion of helping the community with the late Reverend Richard Braun of John Knox Church and others in the Christian Community. After an approved proposal, the Southside ministries became active.
Although her passion was children and youth, it expanded to include adults. Her success in rehabilitating those affected by addiction won acclaim locally and nationally. Mrs. Davis recruited and trained a sensativie staff to share in her mission, and through her legacy she continues to live on through the work of the Needle's Eye.
